☆♥ Priro's Media off Marketplaces List♥ ☆

This is a list of projects by various independent creators, primarily games, that are available outside of marketplaces such as Itch.io and Steam. Many of these creators have been affected or will be affected by Visa and Mastercard's push for censorship of 18+ and LGBTQIA+ material, and the sites listed here contain what these companies and the lobbying groups that drive them to censor us consider to be "controversial content."

This list is meant to help creators gain visibility outside of the marketplaces we seemingly depend on, and help provide examples of creators that still value the power and sense of autonomy that websites independent of social media can bring in an age where the majority of the internet depends on the use of social media.

While a list like this might not be able to single-handedly demolish the culture of social media and mass-internet marketplace dependency, it can help us remember that there is creativity beyond the walls it creates.

Included among standalone websites here, you will notice links to artists that work on SubscribeStar and Patreon. I have decided to include these because they are not social media or mass marketplaces that depend on algorithms and post-sharing. They are spaces defined by the benefits offered by the creator (their creations), and function as a way to financially gate their work.

Exceptions have also been made for websites made for projects that still use itch.io as a place to host their game. Many of these creators are working on getting their games hosted on their site and/or have been delisted from itch.io without their games being deleted.

SFW Projects

  • Simulacro by squid. Story about a man about to kill himself that ends up being interrupted by a creature. Psychological horror. May contain sex scenes in the future.

  • VEKARI. A text-based window into a fantasy world far in the future, step into the world of Vekari and try your hand at controlling chaos in a blend of game and literature. Explore the world in first person as yourself, or vote on ongoing story parts to decide what the main characters will do next as they entangle themselves in a plot of cult worship, sadistic capitalists, and a world falling apart to The Glitch. Faktoria needs you, adventurer.

  • Yggdrasil Item Shop. Handmade fantasy loot, complete with lore and stats & original TTRPG titles.

  • Alexis Royce. Maker of queer, trans and BDSM visual novels, writing, and illustrations.

  • AER by squid. Follows Abel, an angel with a very short lifespan. Romance about grief, trauma and death. MxM. Contains sex scenes, but explicit sexual content is not the main focus.

  • Slasher USlasher U is an 18+ character-driven LGBTQ+ RPG dating sim, set in the open-world campus of America’s Horniest Horror Movie University! With over 15 hours of gameplay, an overarching story about the Hays Code and media morality, and an IndieCade Impact Award under our belt, come check out a cult classic (and maybe fall in love with some 2D hotties along the way!) This game is still up on itch.io, but has been unindexed and unsearchable.

  • Ash Kreider. Polyamorous trans fantasy romance and fantasy erotica.
